A
RESPONSE TO “THE ORIGIN OF PRESENT-DAY CHRISTIAN BELIEFS AS PRESENTED BY THE
AUTHORS OF THE URANTIA BOOK”[1]
by Lee Cook
INTRODUCTION
A discourse has been submitted for our consideration that echoes the
alleged chronology of the development of the Christian faith as it is regaled
in The Urantia Book (The UB). I find Ms. Lee Cook’s recent posting on the
subject of Judaeo-Christian history a golden
opportunity to provide a candid response to the position held by the alleged
“celestial” authors of The UB regarding said subject, one that is too
good to pass up. It is with humble
sincerity that I must inform Ms. Cook that her efforts, valiant though they may
seem, are sorely lacking in credibility and grossly misaligned with modern
scholarly enlightenment, in much the same way that the authors of The UB
find themselves today. I do hope that
Ms. Cook will come to realize that it is not her personally that my
consternation is directed toward, but to the authors of The UB
themselves, be they celestial or otherwise.
In the interest of retaining the full context of Ms. Cook’s work, this
series will recite her entire treatise iteratively and in the order presented, and
will otherwise defer to the text of The
UB itself as it is referred to (or in some cases quoted verbatim) by Ms.
Cook.
